Lead Theatre Practitioner Thornbury Hospital
37.5 Hours & Permanent Salary:
Up to 50,000.00 per year (depending on level of training, experience and qualification)
Thornbury Hospital in Sheffield is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.  We have an opportunity for a Lead Theatre Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Theatre department. The successful candidate must be highly experienced in scrubbing for major orthopaedic cases - particularly hip and knee replacement.

The preference would be for someone with experience in other surgical specialities. There is a requirement for this role to support the wider department and coordinate the team and act as the most senior member on duty. There is a requirement to support completion of off duty, staff appraisals and there is a requirement to cover on-call.

This is a full- time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties of this role include:

Lead the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care across the perioperative pathway, acting as a specialist or functional lead within the team.

Ensure that all patient safety checks, including WHO surgical safety processes, are carried out in accordance with hospital policy.

Maintain clinical credibility by demonstrating best practice, supporting others, and taking the lead in complex or high-risk situations.

Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision for theatre practitioners and support staff, fostering a culture of professionalism, compassion, and accountability.

Support the development and assessment of competencies within the team, promoting continuous professional development.

Actively mentor and coach junior staff, including students and newly qualified team members.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

NMC or HCPC registered practitioner with significant experience in a theatre environment (e.g. scrub, recovery, or anaesthetics).Demonstrated clinical leadership experience and ability to act as a role model to peers.

Strong understanding of patient safety protocols, safeguarding, infection control, and clinical governance.

Scrub Practitioner or Surgical First Assistant qualification [for scrub leads].ENB 998 and/or mentorship course.

Approved / recognised anaesthetic course.

ILS.Excellent communication, organisation, and mentoring skills.
