Position: Support Medical Secretary

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join our secretarial team within the Trauma & Orthopaedic Service. The role provides a link between the Trust, the patient and their GP for patients/carers and other healthcare professionals. You will provide a comprehensive, efficient and responsive secretarial service to the medical staff and their teams.

To work collaboratively with the clerical, secretarial and clinical teams to provide an accurate and effective secretarial service to the Trauma & Orthopaedic service. The post holder will work with minimal supervision and be expected to work flexibly as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing a wide range of specific secretarial duties.

The successful candidate will be required to provide comprehensive secretarial support to the Clinical and nursing teams.

You will need to have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team whilst maintaining a high standard of work. The ability to prioritise your workload and to know when to escape issues is essential. You will need to be able to liaise with staff throughout the Trust at all levels including Consultants, Management, Nursing staff, GP’s, patients and patient relatives, dealing effectively and efficiently with their enquiries.

To be successful in your application you will need to have a good standard of education, experience of an office based role, excellent verbal, written communication and typing skills and a clear understanding of patient confidentiality.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 12 months due to the post being recruited as part of a limited term funding within the Trust. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts taking into consideration the requirement for the post to be maintained as a part of the project’s implementation and the timescales associated with this.

Please note all existing NHS staff will only be considered on a secondment basis. This must first be agreed with your current line manager.
