As a Support Worker specialising in learning disabilities and complex needs, your key duties will include:
- Providing consistent, person-centred support to young people with learning disabilities and complex needs in their homes and local community.
- Planning and facilitating engaging, structured activities to build independence and social confidence.
- Supporting with daily living skills including meal planning, shopping, dietary needs and personal routines.
- Applying PMVA techniques and de-escalation strategies to safely manage challenging behaviours.
- Maintaining accurate and professional digital care notes, risk assessments, and incident reports.
- Collaborating with families, carers, and multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) to ensure positive outcomes.
To be successful in this Learning Disability Support Worker role, you must have:
- At least 12 months experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.
- PMVA training
- Strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills.
- Experience promoting independent living skills such as routines and nutrition.
- Confidence using digital care planning systems for accurate record keeping.
- A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
- Eligibility to work in the UK (Right to Work documentation required)
- * NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People or Adults).
First Aid training or equivalent.
