An opportunity is available for a motivated and compassionate Nursing Support Worker to join the nursing team within a surgical assessment and same-day emergency care setting in Wales.

Job Overview

The Nursing Support Worker will support the nursing team in delivering safe, effective and patient-centred care. The role involves assisting with patient flow, carrying out delegated clinical observations and supporting the smooth operation of the unit.

The position is particularly suited to individuals who are professional, proactive, flexible and interested in building a long-term career within the NHS.

Key Responsibilities

As a Nursing Support Worker, your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting registered nurses and other healthcare professionals in delivering patient care.
  • Carrying out delegated clinical observations in accordance with relevant procedures.
  • Monitoring patients and promptly reporting concerns to the appropriate clinical staff.
  • Supporting patient flow and helping facilitate timely admissions and discharges.
  • Providing compassionate and respectful care to patients.
  • Maintaining effective communication with patients, relatives and members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Working efficiently in a busy environment with frequent patient admissions and discharges.
  • Following relevant clinical, health and safety and infection prevention procedures.
  • Contributing to a positive patient experience.
  • Maintaining accurate and appropriate documentation as required.
Working Environment

The successful candidate will work within a challenging but supportive clinical environment, gaining experience in the care of patients who may be seriously unwell.

The role provides opportunities to develop professionally, learn new skills and work closely with experienced members of the nursing and wider healthcare team.

Shift patterns may include a combination of day and night duties to meet service requirements.
