Following the successful launch of our new Social Care Occupational Therapy Team six months ago, we are now expanding the service and recruiting additional Occupational Therapists to build on the positive outcomes already being achieved across Sheffield.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing and ambitious team that is helping to transform how occupational therapy is delivered within Adult Social Care. In addition to supporting people with assessed needs, the team is developing a stronger focus on prevention and early intervention, helping people to maintain independence for longer and reducing the need for formal care and support.

As a key member of our expanding Social Care Occupational Therapy Team, you will:

• Deliver high-quality, person-centred occupational therapy in line with the Care Act 2014, focused on preventing, reducing, or delaying the need for care and support.
• Conduct a range of occupational therapy assessments to support Care Act needs assessments and reviews, including Direct Payment reviews.
• Provide specialist occupational therapy input through functional assessments, equipment provision, and adaptation recommendations.
• Work collaboratively with other social care professionals to achieve a holistic approach to intervention.
• Promote independence, safety, and wellbeing through strength-based practice, commissioning proportionate, person-centred support where appropriate.
• Contribute to the development of prevention and early intervention approaches, supporting people to remain independent and connected within their communities.
• Support innovative ways of working that minimise crisis intervention and maximise people's strengths, resilience, and community assets.

We're seeking a qualified and HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with:

• Experience in community, hospital, or local authority settings.
• Knowledge of physical and mental health conditions and their impact on function and independence.
• Skills in the functional assessment of adults with a range of physical, mental health, and learning disabilities.
• Excellent communication, IT, and organisational skills.
• A collaborative, innovative, and problem-solving approach.
• A passion for prevention, early intervention, and promoting independence.
• We will consider newly qualified Occupational Therapists with a background in health, social care, housing, or the voluntary sector.

• BSc or MSC in Occupational Therapy or Diploma of the College of Occupational Therapists.
• HCPC Registration.
