Sheffield Teaching Hospitals currently has openings in the Linen Services department on the 11.30 am – 8pm shift at the Northern General Hospital for individuals who are dedicated team players that care about the importance of their job. Working days are Monday to Friday with the occasional Bank Holiday required.

The hospital laundry is a busy unit processing 150,000 items of hospital linen each week providing an essential service to the patients and clinical staff working in Sheffield’s Hospitals.

Successful candidates will need to be physically capable of meeting hourly production targets as well as being comfortable handling used, hospital linen, with some vaccinations required for this part of the process.

The laundry is a semi-automated facility with high volume processing equipment. Full training is provided and staff are rotated around all the different processes on a regular basis.

• Sorting linen into different categories – sheets, pillowcase, towels.
• Loading and unloading washing machines and tumble driers.
• Feeding linen into industrial ironers and folding machines.
• Counting and packing linen into deliveries for wards and theatres.
• Moving cages and stillages within the laundry.
• Completing all mandatory training.

• GCSE English & Maths at Grade 3/D, or equivalent qualification/experience, or relevant experience that demonstrates competency to this level
