As Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of payroll across the business, covering both monthly and fortnightly cycles. You’ll ensure full compliance with legislation, maintain robust records for audit purposes, and provide high‑quality support to employees and managers.

You will also play a key role in modernising the payroll function—reviewing processes and driving efficiencies.

The Job:

Duties to include, but not limited to:

  • Processing the end‑to‑end payroll process (fortnightly and monthly) for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintaining the payroll systems and ensuring data integrity, with records ready for audit review.
  • Ensuring full compliance with HMRC regulations, pension requirements, and employment legislation.
  • Overseeing statutory submissions including PAYE, NI, pensions, and year‑end returns.
  • Review existing payroll processes and identify opportunities for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Implementing automation, system enhancements, and best‑practice procedures.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for payroll queries from employees and managers.
  • Working closely with HR and Finance to ensure alignment on data, reporting, and compliance.
  • Other ad hoc duties as required.
The Person:
  • The successful candidate will have proven experience managing complex payrolls in a medium to large organisation.
  • You will have a strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
  • High proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem‑solving ability are essential.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence in engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
