Python Developer

Location: Hybrid (Sheffield)

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

We are working with a leading financial services organisation seeking an experienced Python Developer to join their technology team on a contract basis. You will be responsible for building scalable automation solutions that streamline and enhance database operations in a highly regulated enterprise environment.

As a Python Developer, you will design, build, and maintain automation and API-driven solutions that support database management, rollouts, and operational efficiency. You’ll work closely with platform, database, and Dev Ops teams to deliver robust, containerised services at scale.

• Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions for database operations and rollouts
• Build and integrate APIs for database management operations and automation workflows
• Troubleshoot automation issues across scripting, APIs, and containerised environments
• Containerise and deploy applications and services using Docker and Kubernetes
• Administer Kubernetes resources including Pods, Services, Ingress, Secrets, and CRDs

• Strong hands‑on experience developing APIs in Python, using FastAPI
• Excellent problem‑solving, debugging, and analytical skills
• Experience working with containerised applications and cloud‑native environments
• Solid understanding of automation and scalable system design

• Experience improving observability using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Open Telemetry
• Exposure to enterprise tools such as Control-M, True Sight, Guardium, Tenable Nessus, or Delinea
• Knowledge of security and software development within highly regulated environments
• End-to-end experience with CI/CD pipelines (build, test, package, deploy)
• Familiarity with Agile delivery practices and tools (e.g. JIRA)
• Experience managing secrets with Hashi Corp Vault
