I am currently recruiting for a Systems and Infrastructure Engineer with strong Linux expertise to join my clients IT Infrastructure team and help deliver reliable, high-quality services across the organisation.
In this role, you will work closely with Infrastructure, Development, and Dev Ops teams to ensure robust processes are in place for building, maintaining, and optimising a range of internal and customer-facing environments. You will play a key part in driving efficient, automated approaches to infrastructure operations and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities of the role:- Using automation tools and processes to manage infrastructure tasks, including environment builds, scaling, self-healing, monitoring, and patching.
- Supporting and maintaining the organisation’s Linux estate.
- Supporting and maintaining AWS infrastructure.
- Working closely with Software Development and Dev Ops teams to meet their infrastructure requirements.
- Proactively researching and recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and maintain high service levels.
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation and ensuring all system changes follow change management processes.
- Ensuring systems comply with relevant internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Strong experience with Linux technologies, including Ubuntu, Apache, PHP, MySQL, Postgre
SQL, Nginx, Postfix, and Git. - Experience with configuration and infrastructure management tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, and Ninja.
- Hands‑on experience with AWS services, ideally including EC2, ECS, Lambda, VPC, Route
53, S3, RDS, Cloud Watch, and Cloud Formation. - Working knowledge of Windows Server services, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS.
- Scripting skills in Python and Bash.
- Solid understanding of IT security fundamentals.
- Ability to manage customer expectations, SLAs, and competing priorities effectively.
- A proactive approach to staying current with technology trends and industry developments.
- Understanding of Service Management disciplines, ideally aligned with the ITIL framework.
- Strong relationship‑building skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience working alongside software development teams, providing guidance on best practices to ensure performance and availability.
