Senior Platform Engineer - Developer Platform / Internal Tooling

📍 London - Hybrid (Very flexible, weekly, fortnightly or even x1 day per Month)

Here at Burns Sheehan, we’re working with a high-growth Fin Tech that uses data and technology to modernise one of the biggest but most outdated areas of global finance. Their platform is used by some of the world’s leading investment banks, asset managers, and law firms, and with recent funding they’re continuing their tech expansion.

They’re now looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join their growing team, focused on building a world-class developer experience and enabling a strong Dev Ops culture across engineering. You’ll be developing tools, infrastructure, and the Internal Developer Platform that help engineers ship faster, more securely, and with confidence.

• Designing and building reusable IaC modules (Terraform/Serverless)
• Managing AWS multi-account environments and improving cloud security best practices
• Building and maintaining CI/CD templates to enable rapid, reliable deployments
• Developing a developer portal (e.g. Backstage) and internal tooling to support engineering productivity
• Supporting observability initiatives and contributing to reliability metrics
• Working on internal open‑source projects that enhance the developer experience

• Strong experience with AWS (ECS, EC2, Lambda, VPC, IAM, Route
  53, Cloud Front, S3, RDS)
• Solid understanding of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD systems and release automation
• Comfortable working with Python, Bash, or Go
• Monitoring and alerting tools (Prometheus, Cloud Watch, Grafana, Open Telemetry, etc.)
• Passionate about developer tooling, Dev Ops culture, and improving engineering workflows
• Any experience in Fin Tech or with public APIs would be a bonus
