The Cyber Security Analyst is responsible for protecting the Trust’s systems and data by identifying, analysing, and mitigating cyber security risks. The role involves monitoring threats, responding to incidents, and ensuring compliance with NHS standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide expert cyber security advice, including phishing, computer security and cybercrime.
• Interpret and advise stakeholders on cyber policy to enable compliance with organisational standards.
• Identify potential security risks, conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
• Maintain and continuously improve security tools, technologies and processes.
• Ensure compliance with standards such as the Data Security and Protection Toolkit, NHS Cyber Alerts, Cyber Essentials, Network and Information Systems Regulations.
• Liaise with NHS England, the National Cyber Security Centre and other bodies; respond to advisories, alerts and notifications.
• Contribute to the drafting and maintenance of the Trust’s digital security policies.
• Respond to high‑priority incidents, provide actionable recommendations to reduce impact.
• Communicate cyber security awareness across the Trust.
• Analyse logs, vulnerabilities and attacks, mapping them to the MITRE framework.
• Manage and update standard operating procedures, prioritising tasks and escalating where necessary.
• Ensure release of security and vulnerability patches is deployed safely and effectively.
• Research new products and technologies, evaluate findings and recommend implementation.
• Assist in selecting controls, conduct gap analysis and support risk assessments.
• Lead specialised work streams and projects, managing conflicting priorities to meet deadlines.
• Provide technical support to Digital Services on configuration and daily operation of devices and software.

Essential

• Degree‑level education in an appropriate IT discipline or equivalent professional experience.
• ITIL v4 qualification.

Desirable

• Professional cyber‑security qualification.

Essential

• Postgraduate diploma level or equivalent knowledge in cybersecurity.
• Previous experience working in the cyber security field.

Desirable

• Experience working within NHS or wider healthcare IT.
• Understanding of Information Governance and IT policies in an NHS environment.

Essential

• Knowledge of key Microsoft and cyber‑security technologies and how they can be applied to achieve digital objectives.
• Excellent communication skills to convey technical issues to non‑technical audiences.
• Ability to conduct complex audits of technical infrastructure, record results and report outcomes accurately.
• Ability to prioritise and organise own work for timely completion.

Desirable

• Experience delivering, implementing or operating IT infrastructure (networks, servers, desktop).
• Experience in Digital Assessment Technology Criteria and Data Protection Impact Assessments.
• Previous NHS or healthcare IT experience.
