Sheffield based (2 days per week onsite)
6 Month contract
£475 per day (inside IR35)
We're currently supporting an organisation based Sheffield who require an experienced Dev Ops Consultant. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in designing, automating, and optimising cloud-native platforms within a highly regulated enterprise environment. Responsible for driving Dev Ops best practices, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD automation, and Kubernetes-based deployments across Google Cloud, helping to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient solutions.
Role Responsibilities
* Design, build, and support scalable cloud-native platforms on Google Cloud (GCP).
* Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Ansible, and scripting languages.
* Manage and optimise Kubernetes (GKE) environments, Docker containers, and Helm deployments.
* Build, enhance, and maintain enterprise CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Git-based workflows.
* Implement Dev Sec Ops practices, integrating security and code quality tools into delivery pipelines.
* Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and operations teams to improve platform reliability and automation.
* Monitor and optimise platform performance using tools such as Datadog, Grafana, and App Dynamics.
* Support hybrid cloud environments and ensure robust networking and security controls are in place.
* Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, deployment, and pipeline-related issues.
* Drive continuous improvement through automation, standardisation, and best practice adoption.
Experience Required
* Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), GKE, and Kubernetes.
* Expertise in Docker, Helm Charts, and containerised deployments.
* Proven experience with Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash/Shell scripting, and Infrastructure as Code.
* Strong knowledge of Jenkins CI/CD, Groovy pipelines, Git, and branching strategies.
* Experience implementing Dev Sec Ops tooling including Sonar Qube, Checkmarx, and container security scanning.
* Solid Linux/Unix administration and troubleshooting skills.
* Experience with monitoring and observability tools including Datadog, Grafana, and App Dynamics.
* Knowledge of networking, firewalls, and enterprise Dev Ops operating models.
* Experience supporting applications across hybrid and public cloud environments.
Desirable
* GCP, CKA, or CKAD certifications.
* Experience with CloudSQL and Memory store.
* Knowledge of enterprise networking and API platforms.
* SRE background and experience working within Agile delivery environments
