Job Description & How to Apply Below

Hamilton Barber are privileged to be supporting Causeway to recruit their Chief Operating Officer (COO) who will guide the organisation through an exciting period of evolution and expansion.

The Organisation

Causeway is a national charity creating lasting change for people who have experienced modern slavery, exploitation and cycles of crime. For more than 15 years they have supported thousands of individuals to progress, recover and thrive—and currently work with over 2,000 people each year.

The Role

As COO, you will be central to the senior leadership team, working closely with the CEO to guide the organisation through an exciting period of evolution and expansion. You will provide strategic oversight and operational leadership across all frontline services and contracts ensuring excellence in delivery, safety, quality, and impact.

This is a role for a collaborative and people‑centred leader who combines strategic insight with hands‑on operational strength. You will hold responsibility for safeguarding, health and safety, risk management, business continuity, quality assurance, and contract performance—ensuring the individuals Causeway support remain at the heart of every decision.

You will represent Causeway to internal and external stakeholders, commissioners, partners, and the Board, championing our values and amplifying our collective voice in the national conversation around modern slavery and criminal justice.

About You

This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a growing national charity with a profound social mission. Your leadership will directly influence the quality, impact and reach of services supporting some of the most marginalised individuals in society.

You will bring significant senior leadership experience from the charity, public, health, care or support sectors, with a strong track record of leading complex operations across multiple sites and bring a deep understanding of trauma‑informed practice and its application, along with excellent financial acumen, strategic thinking and the ability to drive sustainable improvement.

The role is offered on a hybrid basis and will ideally be based within 60 minutes commute from one of its offices in Sheffield, Liverpool or Sunderland.
