We are representing a forward-thinking accountancy practice dedicated to delivering exceptional service to a diverse portfolio of clients. As they take on more clients and continue to grow, they are seeking an experienced Practice Manager to oversee day‑to‑day operations and help drive the firm’s continued success.

The role is to head a busy department, manage a small team and also play an integral part of managing a portfolio of clients.

The Accountancy Manager will play a key leadership role within the firm, ensuring smooth operational performance, high-quality client service, and effective team coordination. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who thrives in a busy practice environment and enjoys balancing people management with technical oversight.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the department, ensuring efficient workflow and compliance with regulatory standards

• Manage and support a team of accountants, bookkeepers, and administrative staff

• Review and sign off accounts, tax returns, and other client deliverables

• Maintain strong client relationships, acting as a key point of contact

• Monitor deadlines, workload planning, and resource allocation

• Implement and improve internal processes, systems, and quality controls

• Support on-boarding of new clients and staff

• Assist with practice development, including marketing initiatives and service expansion

About You

• Experienced within an accountancy practice environment (essential)

• Strong technical knowledge across accounts, tax, and compliance

• Proven leadership and team management skills

• Excellent communication and client‑facing abilities

• Highly organised, with strong attention to detail

• Comfortable using modern accounting software (e.g., Xero, Quick Books, Sage)

• AAT/ACCA/ACA qualified or qualified by experience

• Ensure compliance with AML, GDPR, and professional standards

• Report directly to the partners /directors and contribute to strategic planning

This is a great opportunity, that offers flexible working, and once up-to speed potentially 1-2 days hybrid. Strong progression ability as well.
