We are seeking an organised and proactive Planning Co‑ordinator to join our Traffic Management team. This is a fast‑paced role responsible for planning day‑to‑day operations, coordinating projects, and supporting the General Manager in delivering efficient on‑road operations.
The successful candidate will be confident working under pressure, managing multiple priorities, and ensuring all works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and schedule daily traffic management operations
- Coordinate on‑road operational activities under the direction of the General Manager
- Liaise with operatives and supervisors on a day‑to‑day basis
- Prepare project plans, job packs, and required documentation
- Produce quotations and cost estimates for works
- Ensure projects are delivered within agreed timescales
- Monitor productivity and operational performance
- Manage resources effectively including labour, vehicles, and equipment
- Communicate with clients and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company procedures
Once fully trained, you will join the manager call rota. This will involve covering out-of-hours responsibilities on a rotational basis, approximately one week in every three.
Manager call runs from Monday evening through to the following Monday morning and includes:
- Managing the out-of-hours telephone
- Arranging emergency job cover
- Dealing with sickness and staffing issues
- Problem solving and ensuring operational continuity
An additional incentive payment will be provided for each full week covered on the manager call rota.
Skills & Experience Required- Previous experience in Traffic Management or a similar operational planning role
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Experience preparing quotations and managing project costs
- Good understanding of productivity tracking and performance management
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work closely with operatives
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Strong problem‑solving ability and attention to detail
- Highly organised and proactive
- Strong team player
- Flexible and adaptable in a fast‑moving environment
