We have a fantastic opportunity for a Premises Manager to join our Barnsley Schools Account at Penistone Grammar School, Huddersfield Road, Penistone, Sheffield S36 7BX
- This role will be based on site.
The hours of work are 37.5 hours per week:
Monday
- Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm
The salary is £15.60 per hour

As Premises Manager, you'll play a vital leadership role in ensuring our schools remain safe, secure, well-maintained and fully operational every day.
This is an opportunity to lead site-based facilities teams, drive high standards of health and safety compliance, and make a real difference to the learning environment across our education portfolio. Working closely with school leadership teams and operational stakeholders, you'll be at the centre of delivering excellent service and ensuring facilities support positive outcomes for every school community.
What You Will Do- Lead and motivate site-based facilities teams, creating a culture of safety, accountability and excellent customer service.
- Ensure statutory compliance activities, inspections and maintenance programmes are delivered effectively and on time.
- Manage day-to-day site operations, keeping school environments safe, secure, compliant and fit for learning.
- Oversee planned preventative maintenance activities and contractor performance, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
- Build strong relationships with school leadership teams and operational stakeholders, providing clear communication and proactive problem solving.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across compliance, sustainability, energy management and operational performance.
- Experience managing or supervising facilities, estates or building services teams.
- Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and statutory compliance requirements.
- Experience overseeing contractors, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple demands.
- Competent IT skills, including experience of CAFM or compliance management systems.
- SSSTS (Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme) or equivalent.
- First Aid at Work.
- Fire Marshal training.
- Previous experience within an education, facilities management or public sector environment.
- Experience managing multi-site operations.
- Knowledge of sustainability and energy management initiatives.
- Proactive and solutions-focused.
- Strong leader who inspires and develops others.
- Customer-focused with a collaborative approach.
- Adaptable, resilient and able to respond effectively to changing priorities.
- Highly accountable with a commitment to delivering quality outcomes.
