About the Role

Adept Resourcing are recruiting on behalf of a long-standing client in the Sheffield steel industry for a Charge Preparer to join their operations team.

This role is responsible for maintaining raw material stocks and preparing charges for Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM) furnaces, following quality standards and production targets. You'll play an important part in supporting furnace operations by ensuring that charge materials are correctly identified, weighed, and recorded before processing.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain accurate records for all charge materials.

Receive and inspect incoming materials against delivery documentation.

Identify, label, and store materials safely and systematically.

Weigh and re-identify VIM furnace charges to precise specifications.

Assist with recovery and processing of revert materials into the alloy stores.

Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and organisation within the charge prep area.

Participate in self-audit and continuous-improvement activities to support world-class operations.

Skills & Experience Required

Previous experience in steelworks, heavy manufacturing, or warehouse environments preferred.

Good numeracy, literacy, and attention to detail.

Comfortable working independently and following set procedures.

Basic computer literacy and understanding of quality documentation.

FLT or crane experience beneficial
