Overview
FMG Repair Services (part of Zigup Plc) is seeking a motivated, detail-focused Paint Technician to join their busy workshop in Sheffield, S9 1TH
. The role is suitable for individuals who are passionate about motor vehicles and want to train within a hands-on environment. FMG Repair Services is a leading automotive repairer with a wide network of repair centres and a mobile repair and glass service for the insurance industry, fleets, and vehicle owners.
- Prepare filler to prime.
- Sand surfaces by hand or with power sanders.
- Mask off areas not to be painted with tape and paper.
- Colour match and mix paints or select pre-mixed shades.
- Apply primer and finishing coats using spray guns; rub down between coats.
- Roller priming.
- Touch up paintwork and apply polish to vehicles.
- Remove masking papers, waxes and polishes finished paintwork.
- May paint signs or artwork on vehicles.
- Treat vehicles with rust-proofing protection.
- Undertake supervised development of job skills and apply technical knowledge.
- Adhere to Housekeeping and Health and Safety regulations applicable to the role.
- Undertake other appropriate tasks as required and maintain progress in skill development.
- Develop interpersonal skills to transition from education into work.
- Follow company processes and standard operating procedures; maintain right-first-time repairs.
- Ensure repairs meet safety standards and compliance with BS10125; vehicles returned to customers meet the highest quality standards.
- In addition to salary, starter tooling kits are provided on joining the company (must remain on site).
- Eligible for the technical apprentice award scheme based on performance.
- On-the-job training: 80% of training within a bodyshop with a mentor.
- Off-the-job training: undertaken at a Registered Training Provider or other RTP.
- Contract Duration: normally 3 years, with a competency-based pathway for possible early completion.
