CNC Machinist

Lodestone Recruitment is currently partnered with a local manufacturer of making parts for the medical sector. Due to an increase in work, they seek skilled CNC Machinists for their Sheffield facility. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a precision engineering environment producing high-quality medical components.

The Role

As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for setting and operating CNC machines to manufacture orthopaedic medical components. You’ll work with high-spec materials in a regulated environment where quality and accuracy are critical.

Key responsibilities include:

• Setting and operating CNC machines (Milling and/or Turning considered)
• Working to tight tolerances and detailed engineering drawings
• Conducting in-process inspection using measuring equipment
• Ensuring adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements
• Maintaining a clean and safe working environment

Rotating 2 shifts system (Monday to Friday, no nights):

• Mornings 6am – 2pm Monday to Thursday, 6am - 11:30am
• Afternoons 1:45pm – 10pm Monday to Thursday, 11.15am – 3:45pm Fridays

Salary & Overtime

• Salary: £36-39k + lots of overtime
• Overtime rates:
• Time +⅓ (weekdays)
• Double time (Sundays & Bank Holidays)
• 27 days annual leave + bank holidays, increasing to 32 days with service
• (3 days reserved for Christmas shutdown)
• Company pension (Aviva, salary sacrifice) – 4% employer / 4% employee contribution after 3 months

About You

We’re looking for candidates who:

• Must be Apprentice trained or Time-served
• Ideally have 5-axis Machining Centre or Milling experience
• Have experience in CNC Machining (setting and operating with basic editing)
• Can read and interpret engineering drawings
• Have experience working to tight tolerances
• Are quality-focused and detail-oriented
• Are reliable and able to work rotating shifts

Please note this is an initial 6 month FTC contract, which may well lead to a permanent role.

Based in North Sheffield with good links to M1, with plentiful free onsite parking.
