What you’ll be doing

As Marketing Executive at Octopus no day will be the same - you’ll be working on a range of titles from established cookery writers to tie‑ins from up‑and‑coming food & drink brands, ground‑breaking narrative non‑fiction to expert‑led wellness books, thrilling new fiction from our Brazen imprint to beautiful coffee table and gift books.

You’ll be creating, planning and delivering consumer marketing campaigns across digital and print, working closely with authors, agents and brand partners to ensure our books find their audiences. You’ll aim to secure suitable brand partnerships that help maximise visibility of our titles, and will closely with our Group Marketing team on paid advertising that drives book sales. You’ll lead on your own seasonal campaigns that help sustain sales for our backlist titles.

You’ll develop strong relationships with key internal stakeholders including Editorial, Publicity, Design and Sales and will regularly communicate marketing plans across the business. You’ll pay close attention to budgets, and will consistently look for new and exciting ways to promote books, engage retailers, and reach new readers.

Who we are looking for

We’re looking for a creative marketer who is bursting with ideas, and able to turn those ideas into targeted campaigns that convince audiences to buy our books. This role is perfect for a Marketing Assistant ready for their next step and to take the lead on their own campaigns.

In this role you’ll collaborate closely with your colleagues in Marketing and Publicity as well as Sales and Editorial, always thinking about how to make a campaign truly effective, from initial ideas and planning through to reporting and reflecting on results. You’ll be able to multi‑task across a wide range of campaigns, and able to prioritise and manage your time in order to deliver your work on time and within budget. You’ll have excellent communications skills and be comfortable presenting to both internal and external stakeholders. You’ll be curious to try new ways of reaching new audiences, whilst also thinking about how you can measure impact and return on time and investment.
