Community Staff Nurses are a valued part of our skill mix team, working with the Named Health Visitor and Early Years Family Practitioners to empower children, young people and families to make healthy lifestyle choices. They are able to offer Healthy Child Programme contacts, identify when extra help may be required and provide the appropriate support or signposting under the direction of the named health visitor.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to build effective working relationships with a wide range of people, and demonstrate exceptional time‑management and organisational skills. A resilient, brave and connected mind‑set is essential. The ability to travel throughout Swindon is required and a car licence would be preferable. Mainduties of the job About you

- Pro‑active and creative in engaging with children, young people and families.
- Qualified nurse with current NMC registration up to date.
- Evidence of continuous professional development and a desire to progress and learn.
- Adaptable to change and able to accommodate it positively.
- Will complete a tailored induction programme and full training through our well‑designed preceptorship programme.
- Must be able to travel throughout Swindon; having a car is preferable.
- Practice as a Registered Nurse or Midwife under the supervision of a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN).
- Demonstrate behaviours as an NMC registrant that uphold the code, principles and guidance laid out by the nursing regulatory body.
- Build and use effective relationships with a wide range of people, networks, communities and professionals to improve outcomes for the 0‑19 population.
- Use appropriate frameworks to assess and provide suitable support, considering cost‑effectiveness.
- Participate in meetings with internal and external partners.
- Act on received instructions and requests from Specialist practitioners.
- Plan and review cases and projects to support decisions or arrangements.
- With support of senior staff, undertake a delegated caseload and work autonomously where appropriate to deliver required outputs.
- Support recruitment and induction of new staff and act as a nominated buddy to a new staff member.
- Provide feedback on operational issues to support improvement of work and service plans.
- Demonstrate personal accountability for best practice and own development.
- Work with confidence across all areas of universal services as appropriate.
- Perform any other duties commensurate with the role’s seniority to meet resident needs.
- Evidence of continuing post‑registration education and training.
- Working knowledge of regulatory processes and policy frameworks including the NMC Code, Standards of Proficiency, Every Child Matters and the Healthy Child Programme.
- Experience of coordinating and supporting nursing care delivery in the relevant service area.
- Appreciation of wider internal and external issues impacting the team or department.
- BSc (Hons) Nursing or Midwifery or equivalent.
- Current registration with the NMC as a Registered Nurse or Midwife.
- Full driving licence and car for work use.
