Job overview

We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and experienced registered nurse to join our palliative care centre as a Sister/Charge Nurse. This key leadership role will lead a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, delivering personalised, dignified, and holistic care to patients with complex palliative and end‑of‑life needs.

Main duties of the job

Provide visible clinical leadership and support safe, effective day‑to‑day ward management. Act as a role model for high‑quality nursing practice. Work closely with patients, families, and colleagues to ensure care is delivered with kindness, professionalism, and respect.

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (valid with NMC)
  • Completion of national practice assessor training or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB
    998.
  • Evidence of academic achievement or working towards Degree level of study.
  • Evidence of postgraduate study relevant to role or willingness to work towards it.
  • Evidence of academic achievement or working towards MSC level of study.
  • Appropriate UK professional registration.
Experience
  • Evidence of management experience.
  • Evidence of personal and professional development.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Understanding of patient flow in a busy acute area.
  • Leadership qualification.
  • Audit and research experience.
Further training
  • Core, relevant specialist and management competencies appropriate to the role.
  • Commitment to continuous personal development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to work within the Clinical Governance Framework.
