Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Nurse Manager based at Woodland View, Ayrshire Central Hospital
. This post is offered on a permanent basis.

Hours

36.00 hours per week (Monday to Friday).

From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

UK Driving Licence

A UK driving licence is essential for this role.

What You Will Do

You will lead/manage Elderly Mental Health Inpatient wards under North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership. These wards are based across Woodland View (Wards 3 and
4) and Ailsa Hospital site (Dunure and Clonbeith). You will be expected to be able to travel between sites to provide visible leadership. Please note this role also participates in the North HSCP Mental Health/Community On Call Manager cover.

Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required For This Post
  • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of clinical governance principles and the development of systems and frameworks to establish clear accountabilities based on performance management procedures
  • Experience of working with older adults with mental health presentations – functional and dementia type presentations
  • Experience of managing staff, dealing with performance/conduct issues and providing leadership
  • Effective problem‑solving skills and of using people skills to be able to deliver/influence change both within a team and with key stakeholders
  • To utilise high level knowledge base and clinical competence as a clinical leader to support multi – professional teams ensuring a high standard of clinical care in accordance with NMC Code.
  • You will be expected to conduct complex audit within their appropriate clinical group in conjunction with other post holders and to facilitate and participate in audit and quality assurance programmes, promoting evidence-based practise through a shared knowledge base.
  • You will be working with the Senior Nurse, inpatients will embed clear clinical and professional governance arrangements related to competencies and revalidation

If successful you will be joining a small team that requires to work collectively, innovatively and at pace to support the safe delivery of mental health inpatient and forensic services – responding to competing demands across the remit of services whilst ensuring the delivery of compassionate, person-centred services.
