We have an opportunity for a QFLM to join our Technical Team at Fletchers Bakeries which forms part of our Northern Cluster.

Our Fletchers bakery has over 125 years of baking tradition, with our Kara bakery supplying delicious wholesale bakery products for over 35 years starting with the first floured bap. Both have been part of the Finsbury Food Group since 2014. Fletchers Bakery can trace its roots back to 1895 and both bakeries portfolio of products have risen to include gourmet brioche, traditional sliced bread, bloomer breads and vegan and gluten free options, to name a but a few.

The Quality Front Line Manager will act as the first point of contact within the Technical function, working closely with Operations and Supply Chain to ensure products meet quality and food safety standards. You will carry out routine quality assurance testing and process monitoring, ensuring accurate feedback is provided to management teams and that all products comply with agreed specifications.

You will participate in GMP and other relevant audits, record checks as outlined in the Quality Manual, and take prompt action to address any non-conformances, supporting the continuous improvement of site standards.

This is what you’ll actually do!

You’ll take ownership of food safety and quality performance on site, managing incidents, concessions, and non-compliances as they arise. You’ll lead investigations to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and ensure full resolution to maintain compliance and customer confidence.

You’ll conduct regular internal audits covering hygiene, GMP, allergen management, documentation, and CCPs - following up on actions to ensure they’re completed on time. You’ll also lead traceability exercises, confidently presenting findings during customer and third-party audits.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out environmental and product testing (micro, allergen, nutritional, aW, pH, etc.) and reporting results accurately.
  • Managing calibration and verification processes for scales, probes, and temperature controls.
  • Overseeing retained sample stock, daily product quality evaluations, and end-of-life checks.
  • Investigating customer complaints to root cause and uploading corrective actions via Qadex.
  • Supporting export processes, liaising with the supply chain and site veterinary teams.
  • Maintaining BRC certification, customer codes of practice, and the site Quality Management System.
  • Collaborating with Operations, Hygiene, and Supply Chain to identify opportunities for improvement.

You’ll play a key role in promoting a culture of continuous improvement - using data, evidence, and your technical expertise to make informed decisions that protect product integrity and drive efficiency. This is a hands‑on role where attention to detail, sound judgment, and effective communication are essential to ensuring customer satisfaction and product excellence.

Ideally this is you!

  • Level 3 Food Hygiene and Level 2 HACCP qualified.
  • Trained Internal Auditor with experience in GMP environments.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and quality data management.
  • Broad experience in the food industry, ideally bakery manufacturing.
  • Strong awareness of allergen controls and compliance standards.
  • Proven track record in continuous improvement and completing complaint investigations.
  • Excellent team working, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Well‑organised with strong planning and time management abilities.

What's in it for you?

  • Enhanced Maternity & Paternity Leave to allow quality time with your new arrival!
  • Enhanced Pension Scheme for our employees
  • Free Employee Assistance Programme (open to colleagues and their families)
  • Retail discounts accessible via our Benefits Hub platform!
  • Company shop available at sites (heavily discounted, yummy products!)
  • Refer a Friend Scheme (up to £300 per referral – t&cs dependent)
  • Employee Recognition Awards
