An established food testing laboratory is seeking a Senior Quality Manager to lead its quality function and take ownership of the Quality Management System. The role will be responsible for maintaining ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, leading UKAS and customer audits, managing investigations and CAPA, and driving continuous improvement across the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System in line with ISO/IEC 17025.
  • Act as the primary contact for UKAS assessments, customer audits and external inspections.
  • Manage internal audits, non-conformances, complaints, investigations and CAPA.
  • Maintain the laboratory’s scope of accreditation and support scope extensions.
  • Oversee document control, change control, proficiency testing and quality performance.
  • Ensure laboratory records are accurate, traceable and compliant.
  • Identify and elevate significant quality, compliance and data integrity risks.
  • Lead and develop the Quality Team.
  • Work with laboratory managers to maintain effective training and competency programmes.
  • Promote a strong culture of quality, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Significant experience within an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory.
  • Experience in a quality management, quality assurance or senior compliance role.
  • Experience leading or supporting UKAS assessments and external audits.
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems, root cause analysis and CAPA.
  • Experience investigating complaints, incidents and laboratory non-conformances.
  • Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Food testing laboratory experience.
  • Knowledge of microbiology and/or chemistry operations.
  • Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification.
  • Previous experience managing a laboratory quality team.
