This full-time fixed‑term postdoctoral research position at the University of Reading’s School of Pharmacy invites an enthusiastic early‑career scientist to join the RESOLVE consortium
, an international, multidisciplinary programme focused on innovative pain research. The role involves investigating mesenchymal stromal cell‑derived extracellular vesicles (MSCEVs) as a novel immunomodulatory therapy for chemotherapy‑induced peripheral neuropathy and chronic pain
, bridging fundamental biological inquiry with translational impact. You will be embedded in a collaborative team that integrates in vitro and in vivo experimental work, contributing to the design, execution and interpretation of research that advances potential therapeutic strategies for debilitating pain conditions. The post is based within the Department of Pharmacy, where you will engage with colleagues across disciplines to support the success of the consortium’s research goals and disseminate outcomes to academic stakeholders and the broader scientific community.
Criteria
Applicants should hold (or have submitted) a PhD in a relevant discipline such as cell or molecular biology, immunology, pharmacology, neurobiology, biomedical sciences or stem cell biology by the start date. A track record of rigorous scientific training and the ability to work in a team‑based research environment are essential.
Required Expertise, SkillsThe ideal candidate will bring strong practical experience in mammalian cell culture and proficiency in at least two of the following:
flow cytometry, western blotting, qRT-PCR or related molecular/cellular assays

Experience with
in vivo rodent models
, particularly in neurological or pain contexts, is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills, an ability to maintain meticulous experimental records, and a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary research work.
