Role Overview
Research Associate position in the investigation of safety and toxicity of advanced therapies (iSTAT) programme aiming to develop 3D organoid‑based tumourigenicity assays for human pluripotent stem cells.
Responsibilities- Conduct high-level personal research in the remit of cell therapy safety.
- Identify and design novel research objectives and implement experimental programmes.
- Publish findings in high‑quality journals and present at conferences.
- Manage time, materials, finance and equipment efficiently.
- Support PI with research proposals and funding applications.
- Supervise undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students and oversee their work.
- Participate in consortium meetings and collaborate with Roche’s Institute of Human Biology.
- Implement enrolled ethical decisions and integrate sustainability strategies.
- Carry out other duties as required for the grade.
- PhD (or almost complete) in stem cell biology, developmental biology, bioengineering or related field.
- Expertise in culture and differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells or 3D/organoid models.
- Proficiency in qPCR and immunostaining/imaging techniques.
- Experience in flow cytometry.
- Desirable: multi‑omics approaches such as single‑cell RNA‑seq, ATAC‑seq or metabolomics.
- Excellent communication, report writing and presentation skills.
- Strong record‑keeping, data management and IT competence.
- Problem‑solving skills and ability to analyse long‑term implications.
- Capacity to organise resources and plan work activities, keeping up‑to‑date with current projects.
- Flexibility to adapt to experimental demands and equipment availability.
