Research Funding Development Coordinator

At Sheffield Children's we are dedicated to advancing research excellence and new ideas. Our team supports researchers in securing funding that creates impactful projects and solutions. We are looking for a dynamic, proactive colleague to join our team and help expand our funding opportunities.
You will help support researchers by identifying funding opportunities, managing proposal submissions, and building relationships with funding agencies, supporting the entire lifecycle of research grant applications—from pre‑award to post‑award phases. Your work will involve collaboration across multiple departments, offering resources and guidance to enhance funding proposals.

Main duties of the job- Research Grant Support
:
Provide guidance, oversight, and hands‑on support to ensure that all research proposals meet the highest standards. - Funding Coordination
:
Collaborate with The Children’s Hospital Charity to coordinate research funding calls, contributing to impactful research that advances healthcare. - Process Management
:
Oversee grant applications, awards, and projects to ensure seamless administration, from initiation to completion, following the established requirements and procedures of the Trust.

Person Specification Qualifications- First degree in biomedical / scientific discipline or equivalent experience.
- Project Management Qualification or relevant experience in PM or funding management.
- Significant previous experience of working in a research support environment and/or understanding of research funding systems, managing research projects and clinical trial methodology and logistics.
- Experience of peer review in grant/award management gained either from working in a grant management environment or being a grantee.
- Experience in the management and coordination of funding committee structures.
- Experience of planning and organising scientific meetings.
- Strong knowledge of the UK Research funding landscape.
- Research finance knowledge including SoECAT creation.
- Ability to communicate complex information and requirements to a wide range of audiences.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and using them to produce written formal reports with quality presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects / assignments adapting to changes to deadlines.
- Strong team working skills; the ability to understand the interaction of, and engage with, the priorities of others in relation to their own work.
- Analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
