Temporary Cook - (Housteads Residential Home)

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Temporary Cook to work at our residential care home based in Handsworth, S13.
Hours:
21 hours per week (Temporary position)
Shift Pattern: 7:30am to 3:30pm includes weekends (usually alternate) and bank holiday work
Pay: £13.49 per hour
All new team members are required to attend an induction at our training room in S13 prior to starting work in the care home. These are run every three weeks, starting on a Tuesday between 9:30am until 3:30pm on the first day and 9:30am to 4:00pm on the second and third day.

- Have experience of working in a busy kitchen
- Have awareness of food safety and hygiene protocols

- To plan menus considering different dietary needs, both medical and cultural and in consultation with both residents and managers
- To prepare and cook homemade meals using fresh ingredients
- To ensure hygiene standards are maintained in food preparation
- To order, receive and check the quality and quantity of provisions delivered and report shortages and poor quality goods to management
- To participate in staff development, including induction and to attend charity training
- To receive supervision from senior cook
- To check and record fridge and freezer temperatures, clean and defrost fridge and freezer
- To uphold Sheffcare’s values
- To cater for special functions e.g. birthdays, festive season and unit parties
