Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Holidays Cottage Cleaner

We're looking for an enthusiastic cleaner to prepare our stunning holiday cottages in North Cornwall. Due to the remote location of some of our places, please consider how you might travel to work before you apply. Free parking is available at all our cottages.

Hours/ working pattern: Part‑time, 15.75 hours per week. Changeover days can fall Monday to Saturday, so flexibility is essential due to popular short breaks and late bookings.

Rotas are issued in advance, and we try to accommodate other commitments wherever possible.

Salary: £12.75 per hour.

Anticipated start date: 1 July 2026

Internally within the National Trust, you will be known as a ‘Holidays Operation Assistant’.

For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.

This is a ‘Float Role’, meaning you'll cover a variety of our cottages across the North Cornwall area which spans from Mawgan Porth in the south up towards Bude in the north of Cornwall. Our visitors come to the area for the unspoilt coast with its imposing headlands, hidden coves, stunning beaches and all that the North coast and surrounding countryside has to offer.

Many of our visitors stay a little longer in one of our 30 holiday cottages. There are a variety of buildings offering very different experiences including Doyden Castle, the quirky Birdcage, tiny Tom Parsons’ Hut and the statuesque Pentire Head Farmhouse.

What you'll be doing

On changeover days, you’ll make sure that everything’s pristine and ready for the next guests to arrive. This will include making sure the cottage is thoroughly cleaned, well‑presented and welcoming. We’d also like you to keep an eye out for anything that’s not as it should be, and report any repairs or odd jobs that need doing. If you need to, you’ll also replace any broken items from the store supplies.

Full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided for all teams, and extra measures are in place to protect staff.

You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role.

Who we're looking for
  • focused on giving great service to everyone you meet
  • a team player, but also happy to work on your own initiative
  • well‑organised and adaptable
  • willing to learn new skills.
