OverviewThe award-winning Department of Estates & Facilities Management (EFM) at the University of Sheffield is responsible for maintaining the University’s building, facilities and grounds, managing its property and facilities and procuring new buildings.
The University’s estate contains a wide and varied range of properties which understandably present their own challenges.
Buildings such as the Arts Tower, are of great architectural importance and must be preserved as part of our national heritage, whilst others such as the award-winning Information Commons and the Students’ Union are modern and sophisticated in their design and servicing.
Commuting to the University is obviously key and our aim is to reduce the number of staff choosing motor vehicles as their key mode of transport.

You will act as an ambassador for the University by providing a highly visible presence and service around campus, interacting with students, staff, visitors and members of the public and will be motivated by providing a high standard of customer care and by working in a diverse and ever-changing environment.
You will work under the direction of the Car Park Operations Leader, undertaking a wide variety of tasks based around the University Campus to ensure safe car parking and traffic management on a day-to-day basis. Often working outdoors, you will be responsible for the patrolling of university car parks and pedestrianised areas on an area rotation basis checking vehicles for correct, safe parking and valid permits and dealing with traffic infringements.
A significant element of the role is to move around the University campus on foot, and at all times of the year, however there will be times when you will need to move across wider work locations using University vehicles and the opportunity to support the Parking administration team in the office.
