JOY IN MOVEMENT Business Development Manager About J.I.M

Hi! We’re Joy in Movement (J.I.M), the UK’s first fully automated infrared fitness studio. We run 30 minute, low impact classes in 40° heat, set to fresh DJ produced beats, designed to help people sculpt, stretch, strengthen, and feel good in their bodies.

We’ve been featured in Forbes and Time Out, our first studio is buzzing in Ecclesall, Sheffield, and we’re rolling out across the UK with seven studios and counting. Twice the results, half the time, that’s the promise. Now we’re looking for the right person to lead and grow our UK equity portfolio.

The Role

As Business Development Manager you are the driving force behind J.I.M’s growth across the UK. You lead a growing team of Studio Managers, shape the strategy that takes J.I.M into new towns and cities, and make sure every studio in your portfolio is hitting its numbers on sales, retention, and community.

You’ll partner closely with QFM Group leadership and with stakeholders in the UK and Australia, keeping J.I.M’s expansion sharp, sustainable, and true to the brand. This is a leadership role in an emerging brand, so you’ll need real entrepreneurial spirit, a proven track record of exceeding targets, and a genuine love of building something from the ground up.

This role owns five performance areas:

  • Lead; recruit, coach, and manage a growing team of Studio Managers across the UK.
  • Grow; drive the UK rollout of J.I.M, identifying and supporting new studio openings.
  • Sell & Retain; own member sales, conversion, and retention KPIs across the whole portfolio.
  • Partner; partner with stakeholders across the UK and Australia, and align on brand and social media.
  • Operate; uphold studio standards, systems, and compliance across every site.
What You’ll Be Doing Lead People & Performance
  • Recruit, onboard, coach, and manage Studio Managers across your portfolio, setting the tone and leading by example.
  • Set clear goals and hold your Studio Managers accountable for sales, retention, and studio standards KPIs.
  • Run regular catch ups, team meetings, and site visits across the UK, spotting talent and supporting development.
  • Build a strong performance culture, celebrating wins and tackling underperformance early and fairly.
Grow the Portfolio
  • Play a key role in identifying and opening new J.I.M studios across the UK, bringing an entrepreneurial mindset to a fast growing, emerging brand.
  • Support site selection, launch planning, and new studio onboarding, working closely with QFM Group leadership.
  • Spot opportunities to improve performance, processes, and profitability as the portfolio scales.
Sell & Retain:
Portfolio Sales and Retention
  • Own member sales, conversion, and retention targets across every studio in your portfolio, with a proven track record of exceeding targets.
  • Coach Studio Managers on pipeline management, Free trial conversion, and member follow up, so every site converts and retains well.
  • Review sales and retention data regularly, spot trends early, and act quickly where a studio is falling short.
  • Champion a consistent, sales led culture across the portfolio, without losing the warmth and community feel that makes J.I.M special.
Partner & Collaborate
  • Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the UK and Australia, sharing insight and best practice both ways.
  • Partner with the J.I.M marketing team on social media strategy, helping Studio Managers create content that’s true to the brand while showcasing their own studio’s personality.
  • Represent J.I.M’s UK portfolio in conversations with QFM Group leadership, bringing clear, KPI backed updates on performance and growth.
Operate & Uphold Standards
  • Ensure every studio meets J.I.M’s standards for cleanliness, safety, equipment, and compliance, including UK GDPR requirements.
  • Oversee use of Hapana Core, Hapana Grow, Cloud Fit, Nightlife, and access control systems across the portfolio, and ensure Studio Managers keep systems up to date.
  • Support Studio Managers with membership changes, escalations, and member feedback that need an extra level of care.
