AboutThe Role
Security Officers play an important role in fostering a positive, safe and secure learning environment. They provide a highly visible, proactive presence, helping to maintain safe and welcoming learning and working environments for all students, staff, contractors and visitors. Officers are often first responders to security incidents and to those who need support or assistance, setting high standards of respectful communication and positive behaviour expected at The Sheffield College.
They act as an operational link between internal teams, liaising with Duty Managers and curriculum or pastoral teams to manage immediate incidents and agreed short‑term interventions. Officers support security arrangements and procedures to ensure campus safety and security.
- Prioritise and support the security, safety and wellbeing of all students, staff, contractors and visitors on campus.
- Protect College assets by maintaining security of the premises while ensuring a welcoming environment.
- Monitor entry barriers at campuses, stand for prolonged periods and conduct random screenings using hand‑held wands and knife arches in line with College policies.
- Conduct regular internal and external patrols of College campuses to enhance safety and security.
Monday: 8:00 am – 7:30 pm
Tuesday: 8:00 am – 8:30 pm
Wednesday: 8:00 am – 8:30 pm
Thursday: 8:00 am – 9:00 pm
Friday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
Full‑time and part‑time roles available.
