Retail Security Officer

Job Overview

Provide security services to protect the client’s property, people and/or assets in accordance with the site’s Assignment Instructions (AIs) and any changes.

Deliver results that meet or exceed Key Performance Indicators / Service Level Agreements, ensuring full responsibility and accountability to support contract retention.

Undertake additional training for continuous self‑development.

• Ensure compliance with all policies, legal, regulatory requirements, UK law and guidance bodies.
• Complete all tasks and duties on site as defined within the published AIs.
• Review and familiarize with AIs, suggest amendments that improve service.
• Hold and display valid front‑line licence (Security Guarding or Door Supervision) and CCTV PSS SIA Licence, renewing 16 weeks before expiry.
• Comply with legal obligations and safety requirements.
• Follow instructions and procedures appropriately without unnecessary challenges.
• Work systematically, methodically and orderly.
• Use technology to meet key work objectives and develop job knowledge.
• Identify and report health & safety hazards promptly.
• Stay alert to threats or changes, take appropriate action to mitigate risks.
• Maintain professional conduct with challenging customers.
• Keep accurate notebook entries after incidents for Incident Report process.
• Adhere to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the client.
• Ensure check calls are carried out on time as per AIs.
• Call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents.

• Previous security experience.
• Valid SIA licence.
• SC clearance desirable.
