Taylor Stevenson are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Transport Coordinator to join a busy transport operation based in Sheffield.
Pay Rate: £12.98 per hour
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off, Nights (6:00pm – 6:00am)
The RoleAs a Transport Coordinator, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient planning and coordination of drivers and vehicles to meet customer delivery and collection deadlines. You will maximise fleet utilisation while ensuring full compliance with Working Time Directive (WTD) and Driver Hours Regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and coordinate daily transport operations to achieve delivery and collection targets.
- Create and update daily run summaries to ensure efficient scheduling.
- Work closely with other departments to maintain high service levels.
- Allocate drivers and vehicles using the driver rota, taking into account shift patterns, holidays, sickness, and available driving hours.
- Monitor vehicle compliance, ensuring MOTs, servicing, inspections, and defects are managed appropriately.
- Maintain clear communication with drivers regarding start times, route information, load details, and additional shifts.
- Ensure all transport activities comply with Driver Hours Regulations, Working Time Directive, and company Health & Safety policies.
- Support transport management with employee matters including return-to-work interviews, disciplinary processes, and substance misuse procedures where required.
- Respond proactively to operational challenges to ensure customer expectations are consistently met.
- Previous experience in a transport planning or transport coordination role.
- Good understanding of Driver Hours Regulations and the Working Time Directive.
- Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence liaising with drivers and internal departments.
- A proactive approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Competent IT skills and experience using transport management systems is advantageous.
