LaFata Cabinets, a family-owned custom cabinetry manufacturer, is seeking a Cabinet & Product Engineer to prepare customer orders for production, design custom and specialty cabinets, and support CNC programming and manufacturing.

The ideal candidate understands cabinet construction and has experience with cabinet design and manufacturing software such as Cabinet Vision, Microvellum, Mozaik, or 2020 Insight. Accuracy, attention to detail, and practical problem-solving skills are essential. This position is also an opportunity for an experienced cabinet shop professional looking to move into an office-based engineering role.

Key Responsibilities

Process cabinet orders for production using 2020 Insight, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and manufacturing feasibility.

Design and engineer custom, semi-custom, and specialty cabinets to meet project dimensions, functional needs, and customer specifications.

Use cabinet design and manufacturing software to prepare shop drawings, specifications, bills of materials, cut lists, and production-ready files.

Program CNC machinery and translate approved cabinet designs into manufacturing instructions.

Use Cut Rite software to optimize panel cutting, improve material yield, and minimize waste.

Review customer orders, architectural plans, and technical specifications before releasing work to production.

Work with the Shop Manager and Operations Manager to coordinate production flow and resolve technical questions.

Provide technical support to shop personnel, sales staff, installation teams, and customers.

Assist with product development and engineer special product requests.

Troubleshoot design and manufacturing issues and recommend practical solutions.

Maintain accurate production documentation to support efficient manufacturing and on-time project completion.

Qualifications

Experience in cabinetry, millwork, or a closely related industry; two or more years preferred.

Proficiency in cabinet design and manufacturing software such as Cabinet Vision, Microvellum, Mozaik, or 2020 Insight.

Experience with 2020 Insight preferred; transferable experience with other cabinet software will be considered.

CNC operation and programming experience preferred.

Knowledge of Cut Rite or similar panel optimization software preferred.

Strong understanding of cabinet construction, materials, hardware, and kitchen layouts.

Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, shop drawings, and technical specifications.

Ability to develop custom cabinet solutions beyond standard product offerings.

Strong math, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

Hands-on cabinetmaking or shop experience is a plus.
