Overview

Maintenance Technician – Night Shift ponsible for ensuring equipment uptime through timely troubleshooting and repair of production equipment including injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, stretch wrappers, and auxiliary equipment such as chillers, air compressors, Reverse Osmosis, and other water filtration units. Works directly with machine operators, supervisors, preventive maintenance mechanics, and Sr. maintenance technicians to resolve mechanical issues during shift, proposes solutions to complex problems, and documents repairs.

Functions
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using schematics, technical drawings, and testing equipment.
  • Repair equipment, fixtures, systems, conveyors, and other equipment at facility.
  • Modify, lubricate, diagnose, and operate equipment in accordance with Niagara’s defined processes.
  • Maintain industrial control systems.
  • Work independently and with other team members to complete repairs safely and timely.
  • May fill in for production operator as needed.
  • Create and report repairs throughout shift. Complete required work order paperwork and document parts and material usage.
  • Understand and follow plant safety rules including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation; PPE required where applicable.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance to ensure equipment and facility uptime.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • 4 years experience in a field or similar maintenance environment.
    • 4 years experience in this position.
    • 4 years experience managing people/projects.
  • Experience may include a combination of work experience and education.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and resolve issues across multiple departments.
  • Basic experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Effective communication of issues and solutions to cross‑functional team members.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics: electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic.
  • Skilled in the use of shop equipment such as hydraulic/m mechanical presses, bench grinder, drill press, mill and lathe, and assorted power tools.
  • Proficient with precision measuring equipment, such as calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and depth gauges.
  • Willingness to be a technical leader and trainer within specific plant or machine center area.
  • Own toolbox and basic tools required.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • 6 years experience in field or similar manufacturing environment.
    • 6 years experience in this position.
    • 6 years experience managing people/projects.
  • Experience in high‑speed manufacturing, bottling, beverage, packaging, or plastics industries.
  • Experience with Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), servo drives, servo motor.
  • Experience with rotary equipment such as rotary press or filler.
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, or plastics processing.
  • Experience with Krones, Sidel, or Husky equipment.
  • HVAC knowledge including chillers and/or air compressors.
  • Experience with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics for troubleshooting.
  • Fabrication skills such as cutting and welding (MIG, TIG, or stick).
  • Electrical systems expertise including 480

    VAC & 24

    VDC power.
  • Ability to read and interpret process and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Skills in repair of VFDs, servo motors, controllers, communication systems (asi‑bus, can‑bus, profi‑bus, Ethernet), PLC I/O cards, and safety modules.
