A Kroger Bakery Clerk creates an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service while encouraging other associates to do the same. The clerk assists the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitors all established quality assurance standards.

• Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
• Inform customers of bakery specials and recommend items.
• Provide customers with fresh products and correct portions.
• Use all equipment—including refrigerators, freezers, and ovens—according to company guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to the temperature logs and follow cooking/baking instructions.
• Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipe.
• Appropriately prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients.
• Check product quality for freshness, review sell‑by dates, and take appropriate action.
• Properly use kitchen equipment, stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe, etc.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand store layout and locate products when requested by a customer.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions.
• Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note any discrepancies.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and log temperature logs.
• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that welcomes customers and answers questions about products.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and notifying management of unsafe conditions.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate manager of repairs.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report all safety risks or issues and illegal activities.
• Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
