Job DescriptionThe Auto Body Technician’s primary responsibility is to deliver outstanding service by disassembling, repairing, and reassembling each vehicle, while upholding our promises of speed, quality, and customer excellence. The technician will work collaboratively with team members to achieve repair facility KPIs and serve as a Brand Ambassador for Gerber.
Key Job Responsibilities- Consistently execute the WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
- Plan repair work, prepare cost estimates, and use tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections.
- Use dent‑hammering, filler resin application, and other techniques to fix minor body damage.
- Realign chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
- Remove damaged sections and replace with new or aftermarket parts, including glass, windshields, and interior components.
- Weld, attach, and fit parts, and prepare and repaint vehicles with factory‑specified or equivalent paint.
- Complete work orders within labor time guidelines and inspect vehicles for correct workmanship.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a technical school program or a 3‑year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read job orders and work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to collaborate with other repairers.
- Thorough understanding of repair methods and vehicle body procedures.
- Proficiency in using trade tools.
- Work safely in a noisy area with odors.
- Lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
- Visually inspect vehicle damage in various weather conditions.
- Perform bending, stretching, kneeling, and squatting for repairs and inspections.
