Job Overview

Manpower Engineering is seeking two experienced Travel Equipment Technicians—one Mechanical and one Electrical—to support our client’s automation equipment installation and commissioning projects across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. These senior‑level, hands‑on roles thrive in fast‑paced environments, travel frequently, and bring strong troubleshooting, installation, and customer‑facing experience.

Responsibilities
  • Travel to multiple states (SC, IL, KY, KS, OH) and to Mexico and Canada.
  • Work as a machine builder; “wrench” and learn company products; fine‑tune pneumatic cylinders (Mechanical role).
  • Understand cabling, wiring, and work with high voltage (Electrical role).
  • When not traveling, be on‑site at the Shelby Township facility.
  • Provide on‑site support for installation, debugging, and final buy‑off to customer specifications for automation equipment.
  • Lead or direct plant personnel during debugging/start‑up to verify mechanical or electrical machine functionality.
  • Assist the service manager and other departments in answering product‑related technical questions from customers.
  • Participate in local and non‑local service calls and installations.
  • Train customer personnel on machine functionality and proper start‑up and debugging procedures.
  • Review the checklist and open issue list prior to installation to ensure all service technician(s) are prepared.
  • Assist in developing user‑friendly service manuals.
  • Meet with the project manager and department supervisors to align installation plans and review all open issues before shipment.
  • Create and develop improvement ideas; review with managers for approval and implementation.
  • Communicate with customers on site to provide updates on objectives.
  • Write service work orders and job‑site status reports.
  • Coordinate necessary resources for installations, focusing on kits, warranty, etc.
  • Document changes to equipment on prints and return updates to the engineering department.
  • Work with the site manager to ensure proper flow of daily activities at customer locations.
  • Perform hands‑on installations, service calls, and warranty work.
Qualifications
  • Eight years of experience as a Mechanical or Electrical Technician on automation machines.
  • Five years of debugging and installing new machines.
  • Willingness to travel and be on‑call 24/7 during installations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
