Part‑Time Hospice House Nursing Assistant (Mixed Days & Nights)
VIA Health Partners – a community‑based, nonprofit hospice & palliative care provider proudly serving patients and families regardless of ability to pay.
This part‑time position requires both day and night shifts. Total hours per week: 24; 2 12‑hour shifts. NO BENEFITS.

- Patient Personal Care (ADL)
- Bathing: assist, bed bath, tub bath, shower, sitz
- Body Mechanics: turn and position, transfer (chair, stretcher), lifts, ambulation, range of motion exercises
- Nutrition: prepare patient for meal time, feed patients, measure intake and output, prepare snacks, assist with meals
- Elimination: bedpan/urinal, bowel/bladder retraining, specimen collection, perineal/catheter care, condom catheter, douches, enemas, rectal tubes/flatus bags, drain device maintenance, gastric suction
- Safety: side rails/call rails, mitts and restraints, CPR/Heimlich maneuver, infection control including hand washing, isolation techniques and universal precautions
- Special procedures: vital signs (temperature, oral, rectal, axillary; pulse, radial and apical; respirations and BP; height and weight), heat/cold application, decubitus ulcer prevention and care, surgical skin preps and scrubs, clean dressing changes, attach ace bandages, TEDs and binders, postmortem care, assist with cough/deep breathing
- Housekeeping services necessary for patient/family/caregiver safety and health
- Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences (IDT) and special case conferences
- Enhanced Care as NA II
- Breaking‑up and removal of fecal impaction
- IV Fluid‑Assisted
Activities:
assemble/flush tubing, monitor flow rate, site care/dressing change, discontinue peripheral IV infusions - Nutrition: oral/nasogastric infusions after placement verification by a licensed nurse; gastrostomy feedings; clamp tubes; remove oral/nasogastric feeding tubes
- Suctioning: oropharyngeal, nasopharyngeal
- Tracheostomy care
- Oxygen therapy: room set‑up and flow‑rate monitoring
- Documentation: accurate, complete, succinct and timely clinical documentation per HPCCR guidelines and licensure requirements
- Professional accountability: maintain licensure, CPR certification, CEU; develop professionally; uphold VIA's reputation; build productive relationships; manage time and respond to crisis
- House Room & Facility Cleaning
- Cleans patient rooms per procedure; ensures all areas of facility are clean and stocked
- Maintains family room cleanliness throughout day
- Uses proper chemicals and protective equipment (gloves, glasses)
- Minimum 1 year experience required; experience in home care, working with terminally ill and/or geriatrics preferred.
