American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele RN for a 12-hour night shift contract requiring NC or compact RN licensure and Med/Tele experience.

• Level 3 Trauma teaching-exempt hospital with Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designation
• 32-bed Med/Surg-Tele unit with an average daily census of 32 patients
• Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illness (flu/pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care cases
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing ratios up to 1:7-8
• 12-hour night shift schedule, , 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Low census call possible, with call-back up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Uses Epic EMR
• Unit equipped with IV pumps, med dispensing system, patient monitors, and Virtual Nursing Observation (10-camera VNO system) for second RN witness, monitoring, and admission/discharge support
• Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg-Tele RN experience required
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills and experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone) required
• Experience with wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum of one professional reference dated within the last year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg-Tele unit with strong interdisciplinary support
• Two-day departmental orientation plus New Employee Orientation (NEO) provided
• Expected to work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
• Navy scrub color required
• Free parking available on-site
• Unit culture described as collaborative, patient-centered, and supportive
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for travel rates
• Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least one year after working a permanent position
