Responsibilities and Duties- Facilitate efficient and effective patient flow, including preparing the patient for the visit and providing specific services as determined by providers in accordance with provider licensure, OH policy, and scope of practice.
- Complete Care Connect EMR documentation and maintain/upkeep of EMR baskets.
- Perform administrative duties ensuring all information is current, including monitoring the EMR.
- Maintain and clean the environment, work area, and equipment; report any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department/unit personnel.
- Communicate with patients and customers in a respectful and caring manner.
- Collaborate with the health care team to anticipate needs, ensuring continuity and quality of care.
- Collect and monitor patient data; report patient data and needs as directed.
- Maintain documentation guidelines around patient chargeable items/services.
- Ensure processes and services are continuously monitored for quality, cost‑effectiveness, and efficiency.
- Engage in process and quality improvement activities; make and implement recommendations to improve operational efficiency and introduce new services.
- Maintain professional competence through continuous study of the entire professional field, including best practices.
- Complete required continuous training and education, including department‑specific requirements.
- Promote and advocate for patient quality, safety, and experience initiatives; act as a role model.
- Serve as SME/resource to the department/unit/practice in quality, performance improvement, and EMR (e.g., EPIC Super User).
- Provide oversight of efficient and effective patient flow, preparing the patient for visits/admissions and providing services and education as determined by providers.
- Lead and support development of standard work and necessary customizations.
- Serve as a clinical preceptor and train new staff.
- Remain compliant with scope of practice.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Completion of HS MA Career Tech Program, School of Medical Assisting, Military Medic training, Paramedic training, or 1 year on‑the‑job training in a similar practice.
- Successful completion of a competency‑based orientation program with a medical‑assisting focus.
- Military healthcare training, if applicable.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 120 days of hire.
- Completion of Care Connect EMR documentation skills.
