Salary/rate: $41,600 - $47,800 Based on knowledge and experience

About the Role:

The Purchasing Assistant supports the Purchasing Manager and production teams by assisting with procurement activities, inventory management, and ERP system transactions. This role plays a key part in ensuring materials, parts, and supplies are accurately tracked, ordered, received, and issued to support shop production and project schedules.

Responsibilities:
  • Purchasing & Inventory Support:
    • Perform daily inventory checks on critical materials and weekly inventory checks on high‑moving parts.
    • Maintain inventory levels on key items and assist with organizing shop inventory.
    • Issue parts from inventory based on BOMs and record activity in corresponding spreadsheets.
    • Issue plate from burn packets to the appropriate project.
  • Receiving & Documentation:
    • Inspect incoming materials and match packing slips to invoices.
    • Scan documentation and enter information into the ERP system.
    • Close out invoices in Acumatica and route to Accounting for processing.
  • Procurement & Vendor Coordination:
    • Request RFQs from vendors and assist with vendor communication.
    • Create purchase orders in Acumatica.
    • Support vendor relationships through accurate communication and follow‑up.
  • ERP & System Support:
    • Utilize Acumatica ERP for issues, receipts, purchase order releases, project transactions, and subaccounts.
    • Understand the significance of ERP transactions and maintain accurate system records.
  • Production & Drafting Support (Backup):
    • Import parts from AutoCAD into Sigma Nest.
    • Nest parts in Sigma Nest to generate programs for the burn table.
    • Provide backup support to production as needed.
  • Project & Administrative Support:
    • Create parts books for projects.
    • Support the Purchasing Manager with daily tasks and administrative needs.
Candidate Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  • Basic math skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with vendors and internal teams.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed to support production and project demands.
Additional skills/knowledge (not required but preferred)
  • General knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Experience with Outlook and Microsoft Teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow established processes and maintain accurate records.
  • Team‑oriented mindset with a willingness to assist across departments.
