POSITION SUMMARY:
This position fulfills the Equipping portion of Shelby Christian Church’s mission and focuses on the Student Discipleship vision. The Student Ministry Pastor will oversee both Middle School and High School ministries, ensuring students are connected to the life of the church and growing in their faith.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP AND SUPERVISION:
Day-to-day oversight will come from the Executive Pastor in collaboration with the Lead Pastor. The Student Ministry Pastor may also collaborate with other student ministry staff. All staff submit to the leadership and vision of the elders of Shelby Christian Church.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Recruit, train, lead, and develop ministry teams for both Middle School and High School.
- Recruit adequate numbers of male and female sponsors to build relationships with students.
- Train small group leaders and volunteers to lead groups of 6 to 10 students.
- Plan and lead weekly worship programming for Middle School and High School students.
- Serve on the teaching team for Student Ministry.
- Lead a small group weekly and oversee mid-week programming.
- Plan and organize all student ministry events (camps, retreats, conferences, trips).
- Promote and attend camps, retreats, and conferences (maximum 4 weeks away in summer).
- Make yourself available to students through school events, extracurricular activities, visitation, and times of crisis.
- Develop worship teams composed of teens and young adults (musicians, vocalists, tech, drama, video production).
- Develop and maintain a discipleship ministry for students seeking deeper spiritual growth.
- Maintain accurate records and manage the Student Ministry database.
- Help plan, develop, and implement a balanced ministry in worship, discipleship, small groups, and outreach.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
REQUIRED
- Must embrace Christian discipline and the doctrine and theology of Shelby Christian Church.
- Must embrace the Leadership Behaviors of Shelby Christian Church.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication and conflict management skills to be able to lead.
- Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems, and lead people.
