Job Description & How to Apply Below
FPD | Shelbyville, Kentucky | Full-Time | On-Site

Turn numbers into insights. Insights into action. And action into results.

Are you a finance professional who enjoys looking beyond spreadsheets and making a real impact on business performance?

At FPD, we're looking for a hands‑on Business Controller who can connect financial insights with commercial and operational decisions. Someone who understands the numbers, asks the right questions, and isn't afraid to challenge the status quo.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with relevant experience who is ready to take more ownership, work closely with leadership, and make a visible contribution to an international business.

What You'll Be Doing:

As our Business Controller, you'll work closely with the local management team in Kentucky while collaborating with colleagues at our headquarters in the Netherlands.

You won't just report on performance. You'll help improve it.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Own financial reporting: Independently prepare monthly financial reports, performance analyses, and management dashboards.
  • Drive business performance: Analyze financial and commercial results, identify trends, and turn data into actionable recommendations.
  • Manage budgets and forecasts: Prepare and monitor budgets, forecasts, financial targets, and performance against expectations.
  • Partner with leadership: Support and constructively challenge local management on financial decisions, business priorities, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Understand profitability: Evaluate customer and product profitability, pricing strategies, and opportunities to improve margins.
  • Keep plans on track: Monitor projects, commitments, and agreed‑upon actions to ensure decisions translate into results.
  • Support commercial decisions: Provide financial insights into pricing, product launches, and market developments.
  • Connect our teams: Collaborate with colleagues in the US and the Netherlands, sharing insights and aligning business objectives.
What we're looking for:

We're looking for someone who combines strong analytical skills with business curiosity and a proactive mindset.

You don't need to have all the answers, but you should enjoy asking questions, challenging assumptions, and figuring things out.

Ideally, you bring:
  • A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in financial analysis, controlling, FP&A, or business finance.
  • Experience independently preparing financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate financial data into meaningful business insights.
  • Solid Excel skills and experience working with financial reporting or ERP systems.
  • A good understanding of profitability, financial performance, and commercial decision-making.
  • Confidence communicating with people across different departments and levels of an organization.
  • A proactive, hands‑on attitude and the ability to work independently.

Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environment is a plus.

Most importantly, you're someone who takes ownership, follows through, and enjoys being part of a business rather than simply reporting on it.

What we offer:

At FPD, we believe in taking care of our people and giving them the opportunity to grow. As part of an established international organization, we offer a supportive work environment and a competitive benefits package.

  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications
  • Health insurance benefits
  • Retirement savings plan
  • Paid time off (PTO) and holidays
  • Opportunities for professional development and career growth
  • A stable, international company with a strong family‑business culture
  • A collaborative, hands‑on work environment where your contributions truly matter

You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership, work closely with leadership, and make a real impact on the business.
