voestalpine Roll Forming Corporation, or RFC as we call it, supplies custom roll formed metal components into several industries including Aerospace, Construction, Material Handling, Off-Highway, Office Furniture, Solar and Transportation. In 2000, Roll Forming Corporation was acquired by globally leading technology group voestalpine AG and became part of the Metal Forming, Tubes and Sections division. Today, voestalpine Roll Forming Corporation has seven production facilities across three states with five facilities and headquarters located in Shelby County, Kentucky and one facility each in Pennsylvania and Indiana.
Job DescriptionWhat You’ll Be Doing:
- Oversee activities of employees working in the manufacturing of product to ensure safety, quality and productivity.
- Act as an effective communicator between management and production employees in order to build and maintain relationships.
- Plan and assign work, implement procedures, and enforce policies.
- Suggest methods for improving production, processes, or operating conditions.
- Ensure employees follow safety regulations and that no violations occur.
- Ensure production meets or exceeds efficiency and company quality standards.
- Maintain a steady flow of production activities by coordinating working schedules and overtime to meet production goals.
- Ensure optimal machine utilization.
- Ensure supplies and resources are provided.
- Initiate, recommend, investigate, trouble‑shoot and provide solutions to prevent nonconformities relating to products, processes and the quality system.
- Motivate and develop a cohesive production team by building trust, rewarding, recognizing positive behavior and solving conflicts quickly.
- Lead teams to meet production metrics and engage in continuous improvement activities (e.g., Kaizens, team meetings).
- Handle operators’ performance reviews, training & development, discipline and attendance.
- Recommend and implement action plans to correct deviations noted during audits.
- Develop more cost‑effective processes, reduce waste, and increase productivity and employee satisfaction.
- Assist with manpower planning and interviewing job applicants.
- Directly supervise employees.
- Interview, hire, and train employees.
- Plan, assign, and direct work.
- Appraise performance.
- Reward and discipline employees.
- Address complaints and resolve problems.
This supplemental supervisory position is overtime‑exempt and primarily supports 2nd shift, working ten or more hours per day, four days per week Monday to Thursday. Training may occur on other shifts or days, or include a split shift of 10 AM‑8:30 PM. Other shifts may rotate weekends with other supervisors as needed to support production overtime hours.
Qualifications- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to build a team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent mix of related leadership experience and training.
- Two or more years’ related experience in manufacturing or a job‑shop environment.
- Computer/technical skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office products, MRP/ERP and ability to learn others as needed.
- Ability to work onsite with a reasonable commute to Shelbyville, KY.
- US Person as defined by ITAR/EAR requirements.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 2‑5 years’ experience supervising or managing others.
- Knowledge of metal forming, roll forming, welding, machining, metal fabrication.
- Advanced Lean Manufacturing experience.
- ISO or AS9100 Quality systems experience.
