Plant Controller at Marelli (Shelbyville, TN) – reporting directly to the Finance CFO and Finance Divisional Controlling.

Job Description

The Plant Controller leads financial stewardship across plant operations, managing budgeting, planning, cost analysis, and revenue/expense control for manufacturing, purchasing, and sales processes. The role drives operational efficiency, plant profitability, and corporate alignment while providing strategic financial leadership to the Manufacturing organization.

About the Position

This role is based at our office in Shelbyville, TN.

Your Responsibilities will be:
  • Financial Leadership across Functions
    :
    Control finances across the plant, impacting sales, purchasing, cash flow, and new projects, ensuring alignment with corporate goals.
  • Team Direction and Service Coordination
    :
    Lead team members and coordinate with shared services to maintain coherent financial activities.
  • KPI and Budget Alignment
    :
    Track KPIs and budget targets collaboratively with plant management.
  • Strategic Recommendations
    :
    Analyze operations and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis
    :
    Lead MTP, annual budgeting, and forecasting with the Plant Manager.
  • Expenditure Investigation
    :
    Review spending, support variance analysis, and provide commentary on financial drivers.
  • Variance Analysis
    :
    Examine production variances on materials and labor, driving root‑cause analysis and process improvements.
  • Expense Management and Codification
    :
    Ensure correct expense coding and monitor key categories to reduce costs.
  • Accounting and Reporting Skills
    :
    Manage depreciation, warranty provisions, and other booking activities.
  • Financial Reporting and Planning
    :
    Produce monthly financial packages, re‑forecasting, annual and five‑year plans, and KPI reporting.
  • Corporate Alignment
    :
    Align all financial activities with company policies and manage local ledgers and systems for audit readiness.
Qualifications you will bring:

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.

Experience

  • 8+ years in Financial Controlling or similar capacity with a proven track record of financial results.
  • Fluent English; ability to influence across all organizational levels.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Proficient in SAP across relevant modules.
  • Advanced data analysis and Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel – pivot tables, VBA Macros; PowerPoint).
  • Decision‑making ability, strategic planning, and business case preparation.
  • Team spirit and curiosity for synergy and results across plant functions.
Other skills that we would welcome:
  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • International finance experience.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish).
  • Lean Manufacturing certification.
  • Accounting expertise with external auditor interaction.
  • Internal controls framework experience with internal audit activities.
  • Proficiency in One Stream and other BI tools.
