GENERAL SUMMARY

The Cost Planning Specialist is responsible for Cost Planning for HMUS operational plans by preparing cost estimates and cost analysis for program’s profitability. Related duties include but are not limited to:
Generating cost estimates and price validation to support customer quotations by developing new cost models, improving cost estimating methods, and ensuring accuracy and competitiveness of cost data. Coordinates and reviews the input from functions. Coordinates and reports to the global headquarters and other regions related to cost management. Prepares and presents cost estimate proposal reports to senior executives, including CFO & CEO.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Track and plan costs for programs during their development stage to launch and post SOP by consolidating product costs based on input from other functional areas.

Conduct NPV‑R studies for potential resourcing or in sourcing studies.

Final review and approval of all major outputs from CPG functions which include documents for gate reviews, production location studies, overhead rate calculations, and special case studies.

Prepare profitability and program review presentations and reviews risk analysis on project estimates.

Interact with Global CPG functions as needed for projects and clarification of structure and strategies in North America.

Often assigned special projects/studies including gross profit margin analyses, etc., including analyzing any costs that seem contrary to past experiences and trend data.

Independently lead significant projects to redesign or develop company‑wide systems and processes with significant financial impact within the scope of the CPG functions.

Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This work is performed in a general office environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and generally 5‑8+ years of experience in a related field – or – an advanced degree and generally 3‑5+ years of experience.
Candidate is a fully experienced professional/expert in areas of responsibility.
Good skill in Microsoft Office especially analytical skill with using Excel.
Strong communication, presentation, administrative, organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects and programs.

SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

Advanced experience (beyond basic data entry) working with computer applications such as Microsoft Office especially Excel, ERP systems, and other presentation applications and/or software.
