7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., M, T, W, F

• Proficiency in suturing and experience functioning as a true First Assist throughout surgical procedures.

• No call
• Intermittent late stay required

$55 per hour

• Graduate of an approved specific discipline OR successful completion of a surgical assistant training program while serving in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.
• Minimum 3 years relevant work experience.
• Registration with the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners.
• Certification: CST or TS‑C and one of the following: CSFA (NBSTSA), CSA (NSAA), SA‑C (ABSA), or equivalent.

• Assist in operating room preparation, setup, and cleanup.
• Assist with patient positioning to maximize safety and comfort.
• Maintain a surgically clean environment to reduce infection risk.
• Initiate appropriate intraoperative behaviors unique to first assisting.
• Additional duties may be assigned.

• Surgical Equipment Knowledge (Intermediate) – Mastery of equipment, performance criteria, and problem resolution.
• Procedures Knowledge (Intermediate) – Mastery of procedural knowledge, training, and leadership.
• Operating Room Care (Intermediate) – Mastery of OR care, training, and leadership.
• Environmental Sterility & Safety (Intermediate) – Mastery of sterility and safety practices.
• Inventory Management (Novice) – Fundamental proficiency, basic tools, and stock reconciliation.
• Surgical Technology (Intermediate) – Mastery of surgical technology and leadership.
• Equipment Maintenance (Intermediate) – Preventive maintenance expertise.

  NCCSA, NSAA, NABSTSA, ABSA, licensed in Tennessee.
